Double lives divide

The above picture was taken by Josh while bouldering at White Pine... finally a picture of me climbing :) I have recently started blogging on SheSends website (not quite fully functional but the blogs do work). You should really check it out... and I will soon put a link on the top!

into the vacuum

I've had a friend visiting me from Denver this last week and have had every excuse to climb almost everyday. Today we drove down to American Fork Canyon (a short 40 minute drive when the guide book tells you the correct exit to take). After an interesting journey up a couple of wrong trails, we made it up to Hard Rock Wall. We decided to warm up on a fun looking 5.9... failing to notice that it had been baking in the sun all day long. I made it up to the second bolt of the incredibly greasy climb before I lost my courage and climbed my way down and bailed on the lead. Thankfully we found some stellar rountes in the shade first on the South Hard Rock Wall and then on Escape Buttress. I lead my way up a 5.7 and 5.8, then followed a couple 5.10s. It was a great day and I'm so happy that I've decided to get back on the ropes! I can't wait to get my endurance back... and my head :)

mirrors show the dream

Bret, Josh and I went up to Ferguson Canyon the other day to get in some nicely cool and shaded mid-summer climbing. The climbing was quite fun and really nice and cool. I meant to take more pictures, but I forgot :) There was this really nice sunset as we left the canyon though.

I went for an awesome hike up in Millcreek on my last day off... I went up Grandeur Peak (one of the shorter peaks surrounding the valley, 8299ft). The hike was an over all 8 miles and it kicked my ass. I really need to get into better shape!

when time makes patience difficult

Mom, Cynthia and I decided to travel to the spiral jetty one of the days that they were here. The jetty was pretty cool, but the highlight was by far when my sister fell into the lake and discovered that you really do float in the Great Salt Lake! After many minutes of spinning and trying to fully submerge ourselves the interestingly gross nature of the lake finally got to us and we got out. As my skin started to dry salt crystals formed on everyone of my hairs, it was awesome! Well worth the hour and a half trip into the middle of no where...

your futile preoccupations

I have finally decided that my recent high stress levels are not all because of work and that I have been letting things bother me far too much. As of a few days ago, I decided to let go of everything that has been annoying me at work... and just work. It is not coming home with me anymore. That has been exceedingly hard to do - but I think that I am making progress :) Things are definitely going better for me and the happiness is returning.
